I currently offer public education on topics pertaining to death midwifery, home funerals and grief. My rate is $5 per person per hour plus travel and accommodation. I am available for lectures, weekend workshops, group facilitation and teaching online and in person.

Ever since I was asked to introduce our class at the Christmas concert at 7 years of age I have enjoyed public speaking. Its not that I don't get nervous beforehand, but rather that I enjoy the challenge and opportunity to fully articulate a concept in front of a group. I do this with the understanding that "wisdom is in the heart of the learner" and while I may not be the most polished presenter I enjoy developing rapport with audiences of all sizes including small informal groups.

While many groups are initially hesitant about the topic, my presentations about death midwifery have a positive message and are well received. Some people are surprised that I speak with such enthusiasm about dying, deathcare and grief, but together we discover that it is absolutely life affirming to do so.

I never imagined that the bulk of my work as a death midwife would be education, yet I feel I have discovered my place here in this burgeoning movement and am grateful for the opportunity to provide it as we become culturally re engaged with death.

I have offered presentations on death midwifery and home funerals to seniors groups, church groups, private groups, Grief NS and Canadian Hospice Palliative Care conferences, Final Passages certification trainings, provincial seminars and as a guest on several television and radio programs.

Upcoming educational offerings are planned for the Nova Scotia Hospice Palliative Care Annual Conference in May 2014, a Palliative Care Seminar in Wolfville in the fall of 2014, a weekend retreat entitled "Bringing Death Back Home" in Cheticamp in the fall of 2014 and plans are in the works to develop a weekend workshop for home funeral guides.

Please don't hesitate to contact me to arrange an educational presentation!
